Bloomington's Oak Grove Middle School, Valley View Middle School, Indian Mounds Elementary School, and Washburn Elementary School students were assisted in their annual Pennies for Patients® fundraiser by the donation of Richfield Bloomington Credit Union's coin cointing machine and the employees to operate it. The machine and the employees were present at the various schools from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
on
February 11, 14, 15, 19, 21, & 27.
The fundraiser is in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Since 1994, millions of dollars have been raised in pennies and other spare change by more than 10 million elementary, middle and high school students throughout the country. The funds are collected during a three-week period in February.
In the Pennies for Patients campaign, the class collecting the most change in each school receives a pizza party. Prizes such as computers, electronics and sports equipment are presented to the top schools in each area. All funds gathered go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society but everyone who participates is a winner!
