Richfield Bloomington Credit Union (RBCU) has been recognized by the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce as a winner of its 19th Annual Quality of Life Awards for the small business category. RBCU received the honor for its work with Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP), a non-profit, multi-service organization dedicated to serving the low-income population in Bloomington, Richfield, Edina and South Minneapolis.
The winning organizations will be honored at the Quality of Life Awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, from 5:30-8 pm. The dinner and presentation will be at the Marriott City Center, 30 South Seventh Street in Minneapolis.
The Quality of Life Awards ceremony acknowledges and honors local businesses and organizations who exemplify outstanding leadership in both community and workplace and for their superior efforts in providing desirable places to work and creating sound communities in which to live and do business.
This recognition builds on RBCU’s reputation of local community involvement. RBCU was recently named a REAL Deal credit union by the Credit Union National Association for its commitment to community outreach through loans, financial education, charitable work and partnerships with other not-for-profits.
“We place tremendous importance on strengthening our communities by donating employee time, supplies and financial contributions to deserving organizations,” said Pat Brekken, President of RBCU. “We’re incredibly proud of our involvement with VEAP, and encourage other organizations to join their cause.”
