At the September 21, 2009 Richfield School Board Meeting, RBCU's President, Pat Brekken, its AVP of Marketing, André Thibault, and the Chair of the RBCU Board of Directors, Jim Habeck, officially presented a $23,960 check to the Richfield School District. These funds were for new scoreboards recently installed at Richfield Middle School, Richfield Intermediate School, and Richfield High School.
Mr. Thibault informed the Board that with this latest amount, RBCU has donated a total of $116,549.36 to Richfield Athletic programs since 2003. This has been through the funding or partial funding of over half a dozen scoreboards at most of the schools in the district, the purchase of a track timing system at RHS, new event chairs for the RHS gymnasium, and the donation of funds for equipment at the RMS softball fields.
In addition, Mr. Thibault gave a presentation to the attendees of the meeting. In it, he reminded the audience that RBCU was founded by local educators to offer low-cost financial services to their co-workers and families. He indicated that even though the credit union now serves everyone in Richfield, Bloomington, and Edina, its longstanding mission of giving back to strengthen the communities it serves remains unchanged. It has long done this by supporting education in all its forms and will continue to do so for as long as it is able.
