RBCU, a credit union serving Richfield, Bloomington and Edina, has recently increased its level of support to a number of community causes. In just the past few months, the credit union has donated more than $75,000 to community events, schools and institutions, including $45,000 for new scoreboards at the Bloomington Jefferson and Bloomington Kennedy football fields, $25,000 to be a presenting sponsor of the Bloomington Heritage Days, and $5,000 to the Richfield Historical Society for its exhibit on Richfield businesses that opens in September. RBCU has also proudly sponsored additional events across these cities.
Earlier in the year, RBCU adopted a new brand promise: “Your Neighborly Credit Union,” to convey its long-standing mission of being an involved member of the communities it serves. As a credit union started by Richfield School employees, RBCU aims to support causes with an educational focus. “Part of our neighborly spirit is supporting as many of these types of causes as we can, through both donations and employee involvement,” said Pat Brekken, president of RBCU. “We believe that our commitment to our local schools and communities is what separates credit unions such as RBCU from larger banks and other financial institutions.”
Membership at RBCU is currently open to people who live, work, worship, volunteer, or go to school in the communities of Edina, Richfield, Bloomington, Fort Snelling, or the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport. Relatives and people living in the same household with existing RBCU members can also join. ###
