Richfield, Minn. (Nov. 29, 2010) – RBCU, a local credit union serving Richfield, Bloomington and Edina, Minn. for more than 50 years, has opened the doors of its new 16,000 sq. ft. branch located at 9550 Lyndale Avenue in Bloomington. The new, centrally-located branch offers safe deposit boxes, multiple drive-up lanes with a drive-up ATM, Saturday lobby hours and the latest in banking technology.
The new building was designed with modern design elements, bold colors, an exterior of Wisconsin limestone, large windows and an interior that embodies the credit union’s neighborly spirit of providing a friendly, relaxed atmosphere for its members. A concierge approach will replace traditional teller lines in the lobby, with members being greeted as they enter the building and helped one-on-one by a member service representative.
“Our new branch allows us to serve our members better by providing state-of-the-art banking technology and an inviting atmosphere with a central location that is convenient to members living and working in Richfield, Bloomington and Edina,” said Pat Brekken, President of RBCU. “It will also help support our growth, which in turn allows us to support great local causes, such as the school districts, athletic programs, the arts and community events.”
The new Lyndale branch is part of the revitalization efforts of the Oxboro neighborhood, which includes a recent resurfacing of Lyndale Avenue and utility upgrades. Additional office space and street-level retail space may be added to the Lyndale branch in future phases of the project. McGough Construction was the general contractor on the project, while HTG Architects designed the building.
Membership at RBCU is currently open to people who live, work, worship, volunteer, or go to school in the communities of Richfield, Bloomington, Edina, Fort Snelling, or the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport. Relatives and people living in the same household with existing RBCU members can also join.
