Adventure Club members!!! You don't want to miss this one.  St. Paul had its share of nefarious criminals come through the Federal Court House doors.  Such intriguing characters,  for sure.   You won't want to miss this 75 minute group tour where you can imagine that you’re living in St. Paul’s tumultuous era of prohibition and gangsters.

And you definitely don't want to miss this  Gangster Tour especially, because we are getting a truly wonderful costumed guide who has "inside knowledge" about the infamous gangsters who resided in St. Paul during the 1930's and whose path took them (perhaps unwillingly) into the Federal Court House (now Landmark Center).

Our guide will tell  how the criminal justice system functioned during that era, make us laugh and educate us about the life and times of people like “Ma” Barker, Alvin “Creepy” Karpis, John Dillinger and his moll Evelyn Freschette, and more. Many of them were held in the third floor Detention Room, were tried in Courtroom 317, or faced down J. Edgar Hoover’s G-men on the front steps.

We will eat lunch before our tour right across the street at the St. Paul Hotel M Street Cafe. The price includes tour, a delicious sideboard aka buffet,  a nonalcoholic drink, taxes and all meal and bus gratuities.

To register for this trip, mail or deliver your check made out to "RBCU Adventure Club"  to  RBCU c/o Tara Kingsley,  9550 Lyndale Ave. S., Bloomington, MN 55420.

Please contact adventureclub@rbcu.org or call JulieAnn at 612.798.7170 with questions.

Adventure Club members, you will be knocking the "door" down to sign up for this Adventure. If you want a truly serene, casual, and carefree vacation, then just look what is in store for you! Register Now.

Day 1- September 3:

Board the bus and let all your worries disappear. We will depart RBCU Richfield branch at 8:00am, stop for lunch at the coolest restaurant ever called the Wausau Mine Company. Eating at Wausau Mine Co. is an experience you will never forget. They have recreated a “Mine Shaft” atmosphere so you feel like you are on an adventure deep in the heart of a gold mine. What a way to start our Adventure! We will arrive at Rowley's Bay Resort and this evening, you will be treated to a wonderful dinner buffet. Tonight is a free evening to explore the property, sit on the dock, (you may bring your fishing pole*), and enjoy the amenities of the largest and most comfortable Resort in Door County which dates back to 1948. Rowley's is situated on 100 secluded acres dominating a pristine and undeveloped bay with 700 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline, making it truly one of the most picturesque locations in Door County. But even more than that, it has an indoor pool, whirlpool, and Grandma's Swedish Bakery is on site. Oh yes, Grandma's Swedish Bakery!

Day 2- September 4:

You can start your day early! Coffee is served early at 5am in the bakery if you choose to wake at that time. At 7:30am a superb breakfast buffet will be served at our Resort. At 9:30am it's off to Adventure!! We have a step on guide who will educate and entertain us with Door County's colorful lore on our way atop 225 foot limestone bluffs in Peninsula State Park. We will stop at Orchard Country Winery & Market, lunch at the absolutely fabulous English Inn in Fish Creek (you will have a choice of three entrees, dessert and nonalcoholic beverage), go on a guided tour of Boyton Chapel (Norwegian Handcrafted Chapel in Baileys Harbor), tour Bailey's Harbor Lighthouse (a true Door County experience), and return to the amazing Rowley's Bay Resort. Staff from the Resort will be waiting for our return to begin our included Fish Boil Dinner Buffet. A fish boil is an iconic local tradition in Door County. We will sit lakeside at our Resort around a hot fire with a boiling cauldron of water, while Peter, our storyteller/performer, will share the historical tradition of fish boils and the culinary details behind it. As the boil master throws kerosene on the fire, the pot boils over and eventually is carried in for all to enjoy! Don't care for fish? No problem!! This spectacular buffet also includes chicken, meatballs, side dishes and a 14-foot salad, bakery, and dessert bar (the longest in Door County) so no one will leave hungry! This evening will be yours to enjoy at the resort; relaxing and visiting with new friends. Day 3- September 5: Don't forget to take in the sunrise (and early coffee) and then enjoy an included breakfast buffet at the Resort. You'll need energy for a day of gorgeous scenic views, markets and shopping! Our visit wouldn't be complete without visiting the most famous Al Johnson's for a wonderful Swedish lunch! There is no other sight like finding goats grazing on the sod roof of this restaurant! Inside you'll be amazed at the Scandinavian decor and entrees. This evening, Rowley's Resort has a Carved Prime Rib Buffet planned for your included dinner.

Day 4- September 6:

Again, remember the sunrise (and early coffee)! We will depart for home after our included breakfast buffet at Rowley's Bay Resort at 7:30am. We will stop again for a delicious lunch at 2510 Restaurant in Wausau, WI on the way home.
